Roberta Flack had her third #1 in three years. In 1972 it was “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ That was #1. In 1973 it was “Killing Me Softly with His Song” that climbed all the way to the top. Then in 1974 her #1 was “Feel Like Makin’ Love. It was on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of  Aug. 4 – 10. Then the next week it was at the top of the Cash Box Top 100 chart.

Roberta was nominated for a Grammy for her performance of this song but didn’t win.

In 1986, Flack sang the theme song entitled “Together Through the Years” for the NBC television series Valerie, later known as The Hogan Family. The song was used throughout the show’s six seasons.

On November 14, 2022, it was announced that she had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) and had retired from performing, due to the disease making it “impossible to sing.”
