Here is a video from a TV station in Albany that tells about the backlog of requests for genealogical vital records. It says that about a month ago they are behind by 10,800 requests.

People on the internet say that sent their money in over 4 years ago and still haven’t got what they requested.

The Department of Health has lots of excuses why they are so far behind. They blame requests for people’s birth certificates to get an enhanced drivers license. They blamed adoptees for requesting copies of their originally birth certificate. They blamed COVID.

A few years ago someone on Facebook did find out how many genealogical records were fulfilled for a year. If you divide that number by the working days in a year, it figured out that only 3 people were working on genealogy requests. They just need more employees.
