Two former radio personalities recent died.

Allan in 2002
First was Allan Harris who was a native of Buffalo but started in broadcasting on channel 13 TV. He then moved over to radio where he was heard on WHAM as a news reporter and hosted a late night news talk show. He also produced a sports program and did a car repair show. That lasted until the mid-2000s when he went back to Buffalo where he did news, traffic and many other things on WBEN radio.
Allan died on Dec. 7th just 10 days before his 77th birthday.
Jack Palvino died on Dec. 8th. His career in Rochester radio spanned over 40 years. He started in 1955 at WSAY where he used various pseudonyms that were used at that station. After a brief stint on the radio in Geneva he came back to Rochester on WBBF where he had a very popular morning show. In 1978 he and partners bought Rochester station WVOR which was at the bottom of the ratings and turned it around. The partnership end up owning 7 radio stations including WHAM and WPXY in Rochester. The partnership sold off their radio stations in 1997 but Jack remained in management for a few years after that.
One of the many accomplishments of Jack is the founding of the Rochester Radio History Collection at St John Fisher University. He discusses his career in the video below from January 2013. He is “spot on” in the video on his forecast of the state of radio today. He also wrote two books, On the Air, My Life On Radio (2009) and Off the Air, Reflections on a Life in Broadcasting (2019) both of which are difficult to find.
