Columbia School Yearbook

Last week I scanned The 1962 Hourglass. That is the yearbook from Columbia School in Rochester, NY. It was a an all girl’s school except it looks like there are boys in the nursery school and kindergarten. It was a private school so classes were small. Only 30 girls graduated in 1962.

Science Club

Columbia School started in 1890 with just 13 students. It was on South Goodman Street where the Eisenhart Auditorium is now as part of the Rochester Museum and Science Center. It would merge with the Allendale School which was just for boys. They joined together in 1971.

On page 40 there is a photo of the Athletic Committee but there aren’t any picture of sports teams. Not even any picture of the girls playing sports.

There are 7 pages of short stories. Does anybody ever read those? Lots of pages of ads, especially for such a small yearbook.
