Hit Songs of 1975 – #47

We are in full disco mode so get your dancing shoes on.

The song “Fly, Robin, Fly” was originally called “Run, Rabbit, Run” when composers Sylvester Levay (from Yugoslavia) and Michael Kunze (from Germany) wrote the song. They also produced the song that is mostly instrumental. In fact there are only 6 words in the song. The producers used many singers for their disco album but said that they were the group Silver Convention. When this song became a hit they needed some ladies to pretend to be the group. They selected the 3 in the video; Penny McLean, Ramona Wulf, and Linda G. Thompson.

The song was at the top of the Cash Box chart for the week of Nov. 16 – 22. It was at #1 on the Billboard chart for three weeks ( Nov. 23 – Dec. 13). The song received a Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance in 1976.
