Hit Songs of 1975 – #49

I don’t remember this song at all even though it was popular. It was “Let’s Do It Again” by The Staple Singers. It was the title song for a movie by the same name that starred Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby. The film was directed by Sidney Poitier.

The song was written by Curtis Mayfield. It was on the top of the Cash Box chart for the week of Dec, 14 – 20. The next week it was at #1 on the Billboard chart.

The Staple Singers were a family group with Roebuck “Pops” Staples and his three daughters, Cleotha, Mavis, Yvonne. Up until 1970, the group also had the girl’s brother, Pervis. The only one still alive is Mavis, who just released a new album last month at the age of 86..
