“Come And Get It” is the first hit single from the group Badfinger. They were the first group signed by Apple (The Beatles label) in 1968 . This song was written by Paul McCartney.
The group would have 5 hits. They broke up in 1975 after Pete Ham (vocals & keyboards) hung himself. Two of the remaining members would put together a new Badfinger in 1978.
The group gave a concert at The Riverboat off East River Road in Henrietta on Sept. 28, 1983. It was a Wednesday and somewhere around only 25 people came to the show. It is said that the group only played a half dozen songs and then walked off. There were so few people there that no one is really sure as to how much of those facts are true. A little less than two months later Tom Evans (vocals & guitars) hung himself.
There is still a group that sometimes gives concerts calling themselves Badfinger. It only has one member from their hit days; that being Joey Molland (vocals & guitars).
“Come And Get It” made it up to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for two weeks ( April 12 – 25). On the Cash Box Top 100 chart it got up to #6 but just for the week of April 12 – 18, 1970.
