Today is “Small Business Saturday” when you are encouraged to shop at local stores. It is a great idea because it is important to help those businesses that may have something different than bigger stores. In this time of COVID many small businesses are in danger of closing forever.
The odd thing about “Small Business Saturday” is that only began in 2010. It was started by American Express; the company that has both traveler’s checks and credit cards. In fact “Small Business Saturday” is a trademark of American Express. American Express’ motive was to get small businesses to accept their credit card.
